拉夫·吉布森(1939.1.16 美国加利福尼亚州洛杉矶出生)先后在美国海军,旧金山艺术学院学习摄影。在加州作为多萝西娅的助理是他职业生涯的开始,后来搬到纽约,接着在两部电影上与罗伯特弗兰克合作。

吉布森一直保持着对书籍和编辑的终身迷恋。目前他已出版了40多个专题,包括The Somnambulist (1970), Déjà-Vu (1973), 海上 (1975); Syntax (1983); Tropism (1987); L’Anonyme (1987); L’Histoire de France (1991), 玛格丽特杜拉斯编的简介,Lustrum出版社出版,吉布森创立并出版了早期作品,同时出版了拉里克拉克,尼尔斯莱文,玛丽埃朗马克和丹尼西摩的重要的专刊,以及罗伯特弗兰克的我的手和其他著作。吉布森近期的项目包括State of the Axe (耶魯大學出版社, 2008) 和 裸体 (Taschen, 2009).
