Bruno Barbey was born in Morocco in 1941, and has dual nationality in France and Switzerland. He studied photography and graphic design at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vevey.
His work the series of Italian have been completed from 1961 to 1964 and were regarded as the protagonists in drama by himself who expected to capture the spirit of a country.
Bruno Barbey built relations with Magnum Photos in 1964. He served as the vice chairman of Magnum Europe from 1978 to 1979 and as the global chairman of Magnum Photos from 1992 to 1995.
Bruno Barbey has traveled across five continents over more than half a century, shooting wars in Nigeria, Vietnam, the Middle East, Bangladesh, Colombia, Northern Ireland, Iraq, Kuwait and other countries and regions. In addition to more than 30 albums of his photography works coming off the press, his works have once been published in major magazines around the world.
Bruno Barbey once held a large solo exhibition of his work covering a history of more than 30 years in Morocco, which was organized by the Petit Palais in 1999.
His large retrospective exhibition On the Road was organized by MAISON EUROPÉENNE DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE from 2015 to 2016, and then he made the exhibition tour in major art galleries and galleries around the world, while the retrospective photography collection with the same name as the exhibition was published.
Besides winning various awards, he was made a Knight of France’s National Order of the Legion of Honor in 1982. Bruno Barbey was elected as an academician of Academie des Beaux-Arts in 2016. His works have been exhibited all over the world and collected in many art galleries. He is now working on a new project mostly filmed in China.

他获得过众多奖项，包括1982年获得的法国国家功勋骑士奖章。2016年，布鲁诺 · 巴贝当选法兰西艺术院院士。他的作品在全世界展出，被多家美术馆收藏。
现在他致力于一个新项目，并在中国广泛拍摄。
